Infrared sauna uses light to create a gentle, radiant heat that warms you like the sun, but without the dangers of UV rays. The near, mid and far spectrum infrared waves penetrate deep within you, promoting relaxation, detoxification & a host of health benefits.
Traditional steam & dry saunas use heated air to warm the body, which means they must get uncomfortably hot to reach therapeutic levels. Infrared rays are absorbed into your skin directly, causing the body to radiate heat from within at a lower, more comfortable ambient temperature. The absorbed heat causes sweating & an increased heart rate -- similar to what you might experience during moderate exercise.
A 30 minute sauna session creates a boost
in heart rate & metabolism that burns about 600 calories - while you relax!
Sauna sessions are typically 30-45 minutes. We recommend that you book an appointment, though walk-ins will be accommodated if possible. You can book online here, through the MindBodyOnline app, or by phone.
The sauna will accommodate up to 2 or 3 people, so you can enjoy the experience as a couple, or with friends. We will, of course, only book more than one person in the sauna at your request! Please call if you would like to book the sauna for more than one person.
Please make sure you are hydrated! We encourage you to drink plenty of water before, during and after your sauna session. (We have bottled water and a water cooler available here.) You should also consider removing makeup, lotions & oils from your skin, to allow the infrared rays to penetrate your skin more effectively.
We'll answer your questions and ask you to sign our consent/waiver form. We'll escort you to the sauna suite, and review basic instructions. We provide towels and a towel wrap -- you can wear the wrap, a bathing suit, or other loose-fitting clothes if you prefer. Keep in mind that exposing your skin to the infrared rays will maximize your results. Please remove your footwear before entering the sauna.
You can connect to our bluetooth stereo to listen to your own music, choose from our selections, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet.
You can also read or use your phone or tablet in the sauna if you wish. Social media check-ins are encouraged!
We encourage you to relax for a few minutes before leaving the sauna suite, and to continue drinking lots of water! We also recommend not showering immediately after your session, as your body is still experiencing detoxification benefits for up to an hour after your session.
